EMBEDDED C FIRMWARE ENGINEER

You will be part of a team that develops and maintains firmware for microcontroller-based devices used in Syntech’s fuel management systems, specializing in automotive applications.  You will write C code for resource-constrained MCUs, debug and test your code, and work closely with the hardware team to ensure the functionality and reliability of our products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design and implement firmware for microcontroller-based devices using C and various RTOS’s.
  • Contribute heavily to our solutions in the automotive/telematics space.
  • Debug and test firmware using various tools such as oscilloscopes, logic and protocol analyzers, etc.
  • Work closely with the hardware team to ensure the compatibility and performance of the devices.
  • Provide effective documentation to accompany development efforts. This includes design documents, code comments, and project specifications.
  • Occasionally perform in-vehicle testing and fieldwork to ensure product reliability and functionality.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other related field; will consider relevant years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience developing firmware in C for microcontrollers, preferably STM32.
  • Experience with one or more MCU RTOS’s.
  • Experience with low-level programming (bytes and bits, bit shifting, endian-ness, bit masking, etc).
  • Experience working with oscilloscopes, analyzers, and other debugging tools.
  • Experience with any of the following, a plus:
    • Test automation
    • Some Linux or similar OS.
    • Spectrum analyzers or RF applications
    • Anything and everything related to the telematics/automotive space
    • Python or other scripting languages
    • Working within an Agile/SCRUM context
    • Using source code control tools, such as git
  • Love of technology packaged in a highly motivated but friendly demeanor.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
